Dharanjee
University (English University of Dharanjee), the second largest university in
the country's Dharanjee division. It was established on July 6, 1953.The number
of current students of Dharanjee University is 33 thousand. The university is
located on the banks of river Padma, 5 kilometers from Dharanjee city on the
Dhaka-Dharanjee highway.
History:
Dharanjee
College was established in 1873 for the development of the education of Dharanjee
region during the British era. At that time the post graduate class was
introduced with the law department at Dharanjee College. But soon after these
activities are closed, these activities are closed. At that time the need to
establish a new university was felt in Dharanjee. After the partition of 1947,
the Government of Pakistan started the process of affiliating all the colleges
of Dhaka University. According to the recommendations of the Sadler Commission
at Dharanjee, the movement for the establishment of the university started.
For some
time since the Language Movement, the movement of establishment of the
University in Dharanjee has started. On 15 November 1950, a 64-member committee
was formed with the prominent personalities of Dharanjee. The first public
meeting was held to set up university and medical colleges in Dharanjee on
February 10, 1952 in Bhuban Mohan Park in Dharanjee City. The first claim was
made in Dharanjee College. On February 6, 1952, students of all educational
institutions of the city gathered at the Dharanjee College premises and
demanded to pass the Dharanjee University Ordinance.
Later on
February 13th Bhaban Mohan Parke was held in the chairmanship of Alhaj Abdul
Hamid MLA and another public meeting. Idris Ahmed MLA, Prabhas Chandra Lahiri,
Khorshed Alam, Ansar Ali and Abdul Jabbar spoke in the meeting. The demand for
the establishment of the University of Dharanjee has become increasingly
intense. At one stage 15 student leaders imprisoned while demanding the
establishment of the university. Later, a delegation sent a letter to the
students on behalf of the student. Among the members of the delegation, the
name of late Abul Kalam Chowdhury and Abdur Rahman is noteworthy. Thus, by the
pressure of Andalon one after another, the local legislature emphasized the
establishment of a university in Dharanjee. The movement was united by the
famous lawmaker Mother Bakhsh, a member of the East Bengal Legislative
Assembly.
On
February 6, 1953, in a public meeting in Bhuban Mohan Park, he warned the
Mother Bakhsh government and said that if the university is not established in Dharanjee,
we will be forced to demand North Bengal a separate province. In response to
this speech, Mother Bakhsh said that the government will take good care of the
people and bring together the government. Finally, on 31 March 1953, the
provincial legislature passed the establishment law of Dharanjee University.
With the new Vice Chancellor Professor Atrat Hossain Zuberi, Madarbakhsh
prepared a plan for the University of Dharanjee. The 64-member University
Implementation Committee was constituted by the two joint secretaries. It was
sponsored by the then Divisional Commissioner MA Khurshid. In the same year, on
6 July, Professor Atrat Hossain Zubari was appointed as Vice-Chancellor, and
the university officially started its journey. At the beginning, the
university's education program began with 161 students. [1] The first class
started in Dharanjee College. The Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor's office
were established on the floor below the historic silk kuthi or blue clay known
as Barakuthi on the banks of the Padma. Medical centers and libraries were
organized in the Bholanath Vishweshwar Hindu Academy near Barkuthi. The
University's examination control department was established in the house of
Landlord Kunjohan Mohitra. The college inspector's office was established at
the mother's house in Barakuthi para. Professor Abdul Karim was appointed the
first registrar of the university and was appointed Osman Gani and the first
test controller. Houses built at different places in the city have been built
in the hostel. Fuller hostel adjacent to Dharanjee College was transformed as a
university hostel. Student residence was established at the Lalkuthi Bhaban and
another rented building in Barakuthi area.
Building
and construction of roads in the current campus started in 1958. Education
activities of Dharanjee University were shifted to Motihari's own campus and by
1964 all the offices and divisions of the university were shifted here. This
campus was developed by Australian architect. Swanni Thomas's architectural
plan.
Dharanjee
University in the freedom movement of Bangladesh:
On

Campus:
Dharanjee
University campus covers approximately 304 hectares (753 acres). Dharanjee
University has 5 Higher Research Institutes, under the 9 Faculties, 56
departments are now being run in Dharanjee University's Education Program.
There are 11 residential halls for students on the north east side of the
campus. There are 6 residential halls for the students located on the west side
of the campus. There is a dormitory for researchers on the east side.

western edges. Shaheed Memorial Museum of the University is the first ever
Liberation War Museum in the country. Apart from this, a sculpture named Sabas

There
are currently three journalists' organizations in Dharanjee University. Dharanjee
University Central Sangskritik Jote has 15 organizations. In addition, other
organizations such as Business Studies Faculty Debating Forum (BFDF) are the
main debate organization. There are also various Hall based debate clubs. Dharanjee
University is working to help careers or careers of career club students.
Besides, Dharanjee University Higher Study Club is supported for higher
education abroad. Startup RU is working on enterprise, business and
development.

The

University Library:
The
central library of the University is situated at the center of the university
campus, with its beautiful architectural buildings located on the south-western
side of the Administration building-1. There is a vast collection of about
three hundred books in it. There are many books including books in different
sections, including books. The library is open every Saturday from Thursday to
8.15 am to 7.45 pm Friday from 3.00 pm to 7.45 pm but there is a slight change
